AAFES has a ton 360s...Too bad they don't have games
« on: September 17, 2006, 04:51:45 AM »
So, I was walking into my beloved Power Zone... ah sorry BXtra and to my delight what did I see?  An entire pallet of Xbox 360s sitting on the floor.  Now let me get one thing straight I don't blame aafes for the initial shortage of these machines, Microsucks has a great product and had some supply issues early on and I am sure aafes did all it could to get as many of them in as possible (Thanks) now that Microsoft has opened up 2 more plants to make this little beasties, supply shortages seem a thing of the past, and they are selling like bottles of water in hell.

That said on to the part where aafes and sucks come together.  If the 360s are selling so hot why are there no games on the shelf?  Do they take up too much room, are they too heavy to ship?, Is there not enough space in the store for them? What is the deal?  Please don't tell me there are shortages on the games... as every store in the states has them in droves.  As of today the only games they have on the shelves are sports and... well... sports.  To be fair there are 3 other games as well, covering the no-sports game types, and that is just sad. Really just- sad.

I talked to and very nice employee and he even stated that the ordering system sucks and that they can't say with any kind of certainty when or if they will get games in.  Don't get me wrong I love sports games and have many of them but some choice would be good too.  If you can get pallets of 360s in can't you get a few copies of the most popular games to go with it, Call of Duty 2, Saints Row, and Dead Rising,  to name a few.  In fact the only game that is in the top ten according to xbox.com that aafes sells is Madden 07.  Please can you tell me why?

Oh and as a P.S. Bitch... Why would you sell the rechargeable battery packs for the wireless controllers but not the rechargers themselves*?

*Note: AAfes is not out of them they are just not selling them at this time (as per same employee) I ask you what good is that? The uppers have just decided to not carry them. Brilliant.

Could someone please try to get things together in time for the holiday season, as we all know there are not going to be any PS3s to go around (again no fault on aafes) If you need suggestions from someone who is in touch with what our fellow men and women in the states have accessible... send an email. We'll be happy to "help".

End Rant.
Why do today what you can put off til tomorrow.

Hi K2,

Your right about AAFES ordering system sucks when it comes too games and accessories and a whole bunch of other things they lack. But I know for a fact on aafes.com, they have on there on-line "exchange mall" a shop called Game Zone. I had to order a PSP game which AAFES has an issue of keeping them in stock too. But the price was right and shipping was FREE when I use the Star Card and they shipped fast, had it under a week. I look to see what they had for XBox 360, they had 55 games to choose from and those rechargers you mentioned. Worth a shot. Oh, and if you do not like what you get, you can return to AAFES costumer service. But don't open the game or you only can trade and again you’re back in the same boat about choices. Hope you find this info of use.

Well, gee, SYC, if we wanted to WAIT for it- we could order it online from somewhere ELSE, and not get screwed on the  inflated AAFES retail price. Like EB Games, eToys, or eBay.
The point being- when one goes to a store, one wants their item that day. If it was something I wanted to wait on, I wouldn't have gone looking at the store in the first place.
So- if I order a game from AAFES online- and it gets here broken, scratched or it sucks ass- things I could only find out after opening the package... I can take it back to the 'tards in customer service- and get a store credit for the same item- an item the store doesn't carry. Right on back to square one- no game, no way to get that game- oh and now I am out 60 dollars... unless I want to exchange for a game I didn't want in the first place (Like tennis)

Just to make sure you understand how some of this shit works...

Hey, AAFES ordering people- I am sure that Bungie is taking orders from retailers for Halo 3. Get some of the action on that BEFORE the release of the game, you mental midgets.
Also might want to consider doing something like a "ONE per Customer" policy on some items. Last time I was in there the ONE game that wasn't sports- some asshat was walking out with 5 of the same game. You people know that your selection is lacking, yet you don't institute a policy to try to alleviate even a little of the problem by imposing purchase limits. Seems to me it would be common sense... but then- this is AAFES we are talking about.

Not just video games... But here at the mainz kastell powerzone if you look at the rack of computer games you'll see a lot of expansion packs... the majority of the computer games are all expansions.. They even have expansion box sets.. But do they have the game... No.. just the expansions.. If you buy one of these expansions and open it and then find it is an expansion.. then... either buy the game off the internet.. of just eat the game... I don't mind buying off line but all my credit/debit/checking accounts are all addressed to APO. There are a bunch of websites that don't recongize the address and won't ship there either.. But most of the time I don't even get the the shipping address.. i can't get past the billing address.. But luckily (paypal sucks too) luckily amazon.com works...

Wilder- I have some recommendations for you for shopping online (I am an ebay Nazi)- and mostly for video games, I get them at EB Games/Game Stop, and yes they ship here- and they ship quickly. It is where Santa gets all the N64 and Xbox games for the kids. :)
If you need more suggestions of ANYTHING else you are looking to buy- from clothes to CDs to toys, let me know- I never do without, but only use AAFES as a last resort.

My problem Isn't shipping its the billing address. I type it in with paypal. and it tells me its not valid. I talked to some people about it and its because Paypal doesn't recognize APO. Back when I lived in the states I Bought something off of ebay about 2 or 3 times a week. BUt now not so much anymore..

DUDE! You work at AAFES and haven't yet figured out that 8 out of 10 people who work in a company don;t know shit from shinola?
The last two lines of my paypal account info look like this:
APO, AE 09021
United States

My ebay is listed on an APO- however I do know that there is a land-mine you have to sidestep- It's a backdoor thing... but mine is absolutely APO-AE on my paypal. Has been for the last 4.5 years we have been here. Make sure your bank account info matches what you are trying to put into paypal first though.
I will look into it. You do need to change your ebay over first. That can be done following the walk thru on the ebay pages- use their help tab. It is international, but not. It's there I promise. If you need more help- let me know and I can PM you.
