Floor Care?
« on: July 26, 2005, 06:14:59 PM »
Dismayed as I looked around the house today, I was thinking to myself, "Self, I wish the floormate hadn't died, cause mopping all this is too much work."
In my deep pensiveness, I opted to call the BX to see if they had gotten any floormates in, or could at least tell me when they would... or maybe order one for me....
As per usual I was deeply disappointed as I was told by someone in that department "Gee, I don't know... we're working on it", Although he didn't sound so sure of himself nor his information.
I filled in the blanks for him regarding Hoover and them having a newer model available, and could I get one of those, either buy ordering one, or waiting for the shipment. I got back more stuttering.
So, JC Penny, here I come.
What gets me about the whole mess is this-
Base housing, a good percentage of it worldwide and certainly most of it in Europe is ALL hard floors. Tiles, linoleum, and hard wood. ALL. Going into the BX here you would think it a carpeted paradise, with the selection of vacuums and carpet steamers, etc.
They are supposed to be catering to the needs of the military customers, right?
Do any of them LIVE on the base, or at least socialize with someone who does?
Not askin' for much here Junior, but just the slightest idea of what your demographic is might be a start.

THEY MIGHT WANT TO TRY MASTERING SOBRIETY AND THEN MAYBE JUST MAYBE CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF AAFES EMPLOYEES WANT TO KISS A LITTLE ARSE THEY MIGHT WANT TO START WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS AND NOT THEIR MANAGEMENT. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE REASON THEY EXIST. IT IS IN FACT SUPPOSED TO MEAN ARMY AND AIRFORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE RIGHT?

You all act like the cashier can make a difference as to what comes into the store...or the stock boy can just go to the computer and wave his magic wand and get you what you want.  Have you ever thought that maybe AAFES just can not carry what you want?  Maybe their is someone above them that actually makes the decisions? Maybe someone at HQ??? WHOOOOOOAAAAA - that's a far off idea!   :o

All I am seeing is "SERVE US, SERVE US"

How about trying to look into WHY it is the way it is. Maybe ask someone who would know - like the GM.

FYI- I bought my first floormate from AAFES. At the time, I took the floor model, as it was the only one left. It died about a year later, a horrible and painful death of poinsoning by child-mess.
The tag for the old one was still up months after they were sold out, and everytime I called I got the same answer... "Any day now." or "Next week". Finally I started getting the answer, "I don't know".
It wasn't until I was incredibly persistant that someone got off their ass in the store and tracked down the order... And I applaud the manager who did so. He should have done it sooner, but it got done. If all I can get is action prompted by riding someones ass just to shut me up, so be it.
I did call the GM.
I called EVERYBODY. I am a professional pain in the arse.
It was obviously a popular item, as they were sold out. I wasn't asking for miracles, or some strange and obsolete item, just something youstocked and ran out of. I was even willing to wait a few weeks for it- but 8+ months is a bit much to ask of any customer.
