See above.
This is NOT just about Halo 3.

It is about a system that sucked before being replaced by a system that clearly is failing- ie RETEK. HQ obviously doesn't think or know it's failing because no one tells them. No one tells them because the so called managers and "customer service" don't care to pick up a phone, or give the customers information to make their own calls...

How is an automated system going to order and replace items the store doesn't carry in the first place?! How are they going to get the newer models of items that are available with old PO and SKUs? The system is inherently flawed- as the stuff they carried before RETEK was not satisfactory. This isn't a grocery store. Some things have to be done with a human touch.

The email system on their site sucks, too, btw. They forward it to the store itself. If I wanted to deal with the asshat in the store that pissed me off, I wouldn't have written to HQ in the first place.. and that is assuming the email gets answered at all.

I laugh every time I see the little boxes in the stores for customers to put their comments in.  Not once in the nine months that I have been at my store has anyone taken the comments out of the box.  They are all still sitting in there.  I know from encouraging customers to fill them out that there are complaints about our store never having enough tobacco products.  The GM should be going around to all of the stores at least once a week to empty those boxes.  Maybe I should open it and bring the damn cards to her.

I must work with an exceptionally great manager because she takes the time to go into the system to delete the items that would normally be sent automatically.  She takes the time to change the status of things we need if the system is telling her we have plenty. She has also continuted to purchase products that she has been told by HQ to stop purchasing.  Those items sell out fast. It does not make any sense to stop bringing them into the store.  The only thing the manager needs to work on in our store is the tobacco.  We always run out faster than they are coming in.  We have forms for customers to fill out if we do not have a product they want. Those forms are tended to  the same day they are filled out, unless it is the weekend.  Sometimes, she will even call a few different places to see if she can find that product at a lower cost for the customer.  She is a former military spouse. Maybe that is why she is so much better at her job then some of these other managers.  She understands that these people have a  very limited income.
There are ways around the crappy system AAFES uses. The managers just have to care enough to put in the effort it takes to ensure the customers are getting what they want.

Okay Mommy... you need to tell me what store you work at... I wanna shop THERE.
I saw a sign for "meet the manager" on Thursday for Vogelweh. I starting giggling to myself- boy would he get an earful from me... maybe I'll head down there tomorrow.

comment cards and retek.

As for the so called little box in the store.  If the customer leaves a comment card in it.  It is actually the store managers responsibility to address the comment card not the GM.  However, if the manager does not take care of it.  Then they can go straight to the GM.

As for retek.  I haven't quite figured it all out.   What I do know the buyers will have the say so eventually as to what will come into our store.   I am sure there is someone out there from hq that probably knows more about  retek.

don't forget that it'll be the buyers deciding what products every store will be carrying. There will be no more general "plan-o-grams". Only store specific POGs. In order to bring in any customer requested or products you want to try out (because you hear customers talk about it) the store managers have to send the buyer an email REQUESTING that product/s. That doesn't mean the store will ever get it. I'm trying to figure out how a person in Dallas knows what people in K-Town want?

Ever try to get a hold of a buyer? Those crack heads never answer their e-mails of phones. As far as I've seen most of them have more pull than the GM or RBM. From what I've heard HQ has hired a bunch of new buyers, and they all used to work for Circuit City. None of them know what their doing, and will admit it (when ever you can get one to answer your call.)
