Alright let get a few facts out there before we go any further. Like I said in my first post the diffuculties involed in ruuning an operation like this are extrermly hard to overcome. Just consider the Logistics involed in getting American product to a shelf in Germany.There are Customs laws, Tax laws and a slew of other hurdels to overcome before the first box can even be put on a ship to head over here. All that put aside . Consider this .. Where else on Earth would all of friends and family.. hell you whole entire Neihboorhood shop at the same single store everyday for years on end. Thats right nowhere.... See we have a very small fish bowl type thing going on here. Admit it .. every one of you have had bad consumer experinces at ALOT of other stores.... maybe not every store in a chain but most likley one store in every chain...  You dont ripp apart your local wal mart because you got shitted on by wal mart the last time you were out of state and had to shop a different store thatn your regular one. Trust there are plenty of people who have been fucked over by a store where you just love to shop, you dont know about because you share that store with hundreds of thousands of different people and you never get to here about it because you all dont live in the same gated area or you spouse dosent work with 20% of that stores entire customer base.
 Check it out... AAFES isnt here to dick each one of you over.. we are here... away from our Families, just like you , down range just like you and serving as a part of our Nations Department of Defense.... just like you... alot of us are former Soliders.. just like .. ME
 Either way, I have never been able to understand why people cant be happy for what AAFES does... We run stores that lose tens of thousands of dollars a month just so the GIs there have somewhere to buy COke or Hanes or whatever.  no other company can or will do what we do because they are not willing to lose the money... Do you realize that we get put on the hook at the beging of every year for our MWR donations.. thats right we had to commit to almost a third of a billion dollars ........290 MILLION ....... thats 290,000,000 dollars before we could open the doors this year.... and if we dont make that mark .. guess what we have to sell real estate or take out loans  just keep the thing going another year .... We are not bad guys out to steal your dollars ...some of us actually enjoy what we do  and even take pride in our jobs.
  understand that we are often times just one store that has to cater to the entire scope ofthe customer base....We cannot be everything to everybody ... I can only fit so much stuff in the store.. it is not like back home where you go shop where other peole like you shop .. you all have to share ONE place and that ...as you all know ... can make things turn out pretty fucking bad regardless of who you are.
    And with the advent of online shopping plus the tried and true method of actually going to a store off post.... current rates plus VAT forms pretty much make the exchange rates a wash..are still open to you .. you do not have to spend with us... free comerce is yours to have   
Just be fair  consider the whole picture .... think about this the next time you go to the gym on post, Go on a BOSS trip, hit the pool or webcam chat with  your spouse down range... AAFES paid the bill for that .. and we enjoied doing it....so for Pete's Sake ... Quit yer bitching

I may not rip walmart apart every time they screwed up- but then when Walmart didn't have something or when they screwed up and I complained they gave a shit and did something about it besides placate me and blow sunshine up my ass with a myriad of platitudes.
I know the system is not perfect, but there should be some other answer for customers than "that's all we have" and my ever favorite to hear from an employee "I don't know". Don't they teach them in Customer Service 101 that "I don't know" are the 3 deadly words one never says in Customer service.... Those words should be replaced with "I'll find out."
As far as being happy with what AAFES does, lets not forget the fact that they are a private company contracted working for the DOD, not the DOD itself... which means we should be able to get results. I do not dispute that you provide an important and necessary service for the community- especially down range-(After all everyone needs shampoo and deodorant), but for those who live OCONUS AAFES is supposed to be or primary shopping outlet side by side with DeCA. If I were to walk into the meat Dept of the commissary and ask for a prime rib and be told not only do we not have it, but we can't get it, I don't know why, this site might be called DeCA sucks.
I do not think AAFES steals from us. I think they go out of their way to stock name brand shit, when some of us out there like the cheap stuff. I for one don't dig paying 50 dollar for Levi's when the off brand is just as good for 20. If you say you can only fit so much- perhaps the people with the PO's should be a little more careful about what they stock... and offer some kind of resolution for when you don't have it, such as "I can order that for you."
Your online shopping is not that great either- I was told by some manager named Max to go online and look at the selection of intimate apparel, like bras, and I found that selection even more deplorable. (The bras for women who actually have a set of knockers, instead of bee stings sucks. They are UGLY bras, assuming you can find a 38D, or above.)
The floormate thing... another big example issue. I did find one manager in the stores who was willing to help... it did take him 9 months to get any results, but I ultimately got it. Why should it have taken so long? I wasn't asking for a special item- just one you had sold and run out of. Ridiculous. Walmart would never allow a customer to get so loud and verbal and make them wait for 9 months for anything.... and Walmart also contributes and donates to the community. (AAFES has to do so by mandate... Other retail chains don't.)
I would LOVE to quit my bitchin, dude, I really would... but when disappointed so often, and spending a good majority of my shopping time online with ebay and amazon- knowing with these places, I will get my shit in a week, not months- I would love the experience of immediate satisfaction of going down and buying it off the shelf, but so often I can't have it.
So you y'all start working on some viable solutions besides "We're doing the best we can"... that's a shit attitude for a retailer to have... and not one that keeps customers happy.

I deleted Realitychecks (AKA AAFESAINTSOBAD, AKA, Truthpatrol, AKA Balance) because he has been banned from the site for posting nothing but blow sunshine up your ass ads for AAFES.  This is a matter of policy as I can't ban his ip range due to that fact we have some other members that surf from the same range as him, we have no choice to weed out all his comments as they come in.  IF he was not such an ass and would just give up it would make things a bit easier.

Well, He seems to be at times able to offer answers and is willing to do so without ad posting.  He is the only one from that IP address that is willing to do so.  It is funny really, all of the fan-boys that are posting on this site do so from an AAFES.com IP Address! (yes that right people the admins can see where you are logging on from)  Maybe if they spent less time posting ads on a site that gets about 1000 hits per month, and more time doing there "jobs" you know customer service, ordering, and market research AFFES would not be the dump it is. 

The best thing you can do to bring about change is to make their afternoon surfing sessions mean something by helping us build a larger member base.  Tell your friends and coworkers to join the fight and sign up for a membership. I hate to burst your buddle dude. AAFES is OVERSEEN as part of the contract with the Government by the DoD. As part of this contract some AAFES personnel are afforded GS status and benefits. If AAFES was a government agency they would be in EVERY base, EVERYWHERE. They wouldn't alter their contract with the government every 7-10 years to make the bidding process to provide services for the military so lopsided. Yet they still cant seem to break into the Reagan Test Site in the Marshall Islands.

AAFES is a broken system. A simple store manager is not privy to the inner workings back in Atlanta or Dallas. I had 6 years and know from which I speak.

I havent had much time to spend on this forum b/c I have been waayyy tooo busy serving you ungrateful pricks......Dude calm down .. just pulling your chain .... and blowing off a little steam...
 Ya know I have a wealth of experince in sales, both retail and commercial, with a few different companies in a few different fields ... and I have to say that the AAFES customer base has to be the most retarded group of people ever .... NOw dont go getting all pissy and moaning about me not "respecting the cusomer " and "being part of the problem not the soulotion".. be real for a second .. ask your spouse or take a look around the motor pool sometime ... there are alot of stupid people in the Army .. Idont know a bout the Air Force .. never around them much .. but I imagine it cant be waay tooo different .. better for sure .. but not by much.. either way my  point is this I served my nation in OD green .. so I know how freaking dumb most of them are ... hence forth the reason I chose not to reup...

WOW could you be any more incoherent? You have proven that you’re not only a drunk, but a clueless drunk. I was in on one of the attempts to push the contractor out of Kwajalein. I put together the distribution numbers for the actual bid. I saw how AAFES wanted a 20 year contract instead of the standard 5-7 that has been done since retail services was established on the island. I know from what I speak. AAFES tries to use their contract to put up this façade of being an actual government agency. Quit believing what your supervisor tells you. If the DoD ever opened up retail bidding outside again, AAFES would cease to exist. Don’t feed people this excuse of it costing too much to run a store. The provision is very simple. Once AAFES falls 7.5% below their contracted minimum MWR contributions than the next renewal phase will be open to bids from outside agencies and guess what. AAFES will be pushed out at MANY more places. A simple store manager would not know these things. Not a knock so much as the truth.

Now this next part is a knock.

   .. by the way folks ... I know that I am not a goverment agent (as I hope most sane peole do ).. I know that I work for a non profit agency that is overseen by the DOD. The fight for our position as the sole provider of goods and services to our Army and Air Force is a hot one .. ours is a  highly regarded spot. We have been constantly under attack from outside retailers wanting a slice of the pie.. They have taken the route of blocking us from selling certain product CONUS because they say the competetion isnt fair ... Ever wonder why you dont see big screen TVs in your American AAFES .... Circut City stoped that one ...Walmart has been trying to get in for years ... but you know why they cant... Because the deal the uncle Sam gets from us is tooooo sweeet.... do you realize that our employess dont even get matching funds for 401k plans because our status as a non profit org keeps us form doing that .. you  arent even coverd under the Consumer Protection Act when it comes to us ... b/c we are not retailers in the everday sense of the term ... AAFES is not going anywhere people ... not anytime soon ... just look at the way that the Navy exchange bizz is run .. they are so far in the hole ( and have been for years) that we almost took them over 2 years ago ... but guess what .. Congress stopped it .. now if they wont let that happen how the hell do you think that they will let someone like Target or Penny's get in ..    No other company is willing to do what it takes to do our job.... nobody else is built the right way to handle this contract ... dont you think if it were a subject of money that WALMART would have taken over years ago .. hell the Waltons run the world as far as retail is concered .. but even  all of thier power, glory and clout  couldnt get them in the door ...

The corporate prick-a-saurs are not  any more or any less responsible for the problems as every other ass-ociate. Since everyone likes to play "pass the buck" from the minimum wage dude to the a**hole who makes six figures, I think the AAFES corp is just as corrupt as the gov't that oversees it.

The hub told me he wants to take the kids out shopping for my Christmas present from them this week. I told him that it was gonna be hard for him- as there is nothing in that whole f*cking store I want.
