Gross

Just returned from grocery shopping with my daughter. I told her we would get lunch while we were out, so we swung by the Food Court at Vog for Charlie's.

Then the attack of the flies began. Ever imagined eating in a horse corral in mid summer?

There are flies all over the food court, in mass quantity. It's REALLY disgusting, and as far as I can see, there would be some really simple steps AAFES could take to avoid the problem. It's unsanitary as all hell... and if they are in there during the day, they are in there at night where they don't have people waiving them off of tables and counters and the like... so if they aren't coming each morning and bleaching each and every surface all over again after the night before... Ick! How does something like this get over looked or pushed aside?

Not that the people who clean the place don't try. They wipe the tables and collect the trays- but there still remains the whole truckload of flies crawling, flying and landing on everything and everyone.

I always thought it would be cool to hire someone with a super power vacuum who goes around sucks up the flies...........but your dead right on the clean up part.

Food court could use some cleaning. The food court however is a fast food area. I am not condoning an unclean food environment, but I am always sure to clean off my table and ensure that I NEVER EVER eat my food directly off the table in any fast food restaurant. I never would even think about eating my food directly from the plastic tray. The tables and trays are wiped off with a cloth that is SUPPOSED to be soaked in a bleach water container that has its PH level checked, but I would rather not wager my health on whether or not it has been. The root of the problem here is the fact that we are living in Germany where airconditioning just isn't a priority. When it gets hot for the 1 1/2 - 2 months of the year, the quick fix is to leave all doors propped open to let the air circulate, and then come the flies.

I do not eat from the tables or tray, either. Sanitary conditions should be a priority... and I am sure as soon as they get sued for someone getting deathly sick from their shit they will find it on the top of their lists.
The summer is not an excuse, either. Any time the temp is over 55 the place is an all you can eat fly pig out buffet. A/C is a good idea... so might be... window screens? Air Curtains on the doors?
It's just nasty, and it is a problem that seriously needs addressed, before someone gets ill.
