Grafenwoehr PX - Proposed Hours?
« on: July 01, 2007, 04:21:15 PM »
So I went for a drive today and decided to check out the brand new PX still being built at Grafenwoehr.  One thing I noticed right away was that the hours of operation were already posted on a huge sign.

The first thing that hit me was they would be closed on Sunday and Monday.  What??  The PX at Vilseck is at least open 7 days a week - but not after this new one opens.

The new Commissary that hasn't opened at Grafenwoehr is only scheduled to be closed one day a week.  I wonder what the thought process - or the lack thereof - was in having this "huge new PX" closed 2 days a week...

I imagine they won't be able to control what items they receive too...

How quick to post a complaint on this forum as fact and not have the facts. Did you not notice that the PX and DECA are under construction and nothing is to be taken as fact until opening. The hours you see are not the actual hours to be. What you see is only what the contractor put up when constructing the sign. Did you not notice all the funky hours too.
When the actual hours are posted, it will be approved by the Garrison Commander and Commanding General of JMTC.   :-*

Hey thanks for your comments.  What I posted was based on the sign that was there in front of the PX and commissary.  Why would they pay to make the sign with the times and days of the week on it if they were totally wrong.  That is what led me to believe it to be true.

The sign wasn't a hand crafted sign but similar in fashion as the signs in front of the garrison buildings announcing the unit or services provided in that building.  It seemed strange that they would go through the time and expense to put up a sign if they didn't know the hours yet.

Thanks for your facts though...  and yes, who couldn't tell it was still under construction...  Wasn't is supposed to be finished by now??   :o

You can't argue with "Stop_Your_Crying" or "Homer" because they are both AAFES management and so know everything.

Truth is, hours ARE being cut across the board. So are employees. There are shoppettes out there with only one person on duty for hours on end (a violation of all sorts of MILITARY regulations, BTW). Gas is going automated in a lot of places so that AAFES doesn't have to pay an attendant.

And, yes--they WILL tell you they have no control over what they get, even with RETEK supposedly making ordering "foolproof".

Sorry did not mean to be so harsh. The hours are change able, just know one was paying attention after it was up, but then again, we are months away from opening. Most of the main work is inside.

Disgruntled,  I love a good argument if one got their facts straight. No I do not agree with a lot of what happens in AAFES, customer service sucks big weenies, cashiers look like they rather be anywhere but helping you and training, well just read the forum. Please do not compare me to Homer, like to be more like Bart...lol

Don't get me started on training....  >:( With all the cutbacks, there is no way to get people into the classes without sacrificing what little customer service is left.

Most training of new hires I see consists of sticking a tape into the VCR and telling the new people to watch the tape and then go to HR when they are done.

Disgruntled, just for the record I do not know everything (Homer maybe.. ::) .........example why the hell does AAFES charges so much for gas and base it on stateside DOE pricing, when AAFES promotes the "NO SALES TAX" and we all know that the DOE counts federal taxes in that stateside average. I never gotten a clear, besides the standard answer we all can quote word for word. So do not think I agree with a lot that goes on with AAFES.
I love to head slap a few cashiers, customer service and floor associates just for being stupid. They got the training, but it goes right out the window after day one and they see others doing no more then they have too. This starts at the top with that store manager and their supervisors. Just wanted to let you know, I do not pick up the Corporate pom-poms and defend it religiously. But I will point out and if I can actually help some misleading post, this is a two way forum correct?

P.S.....encase you were wonder where I was for a few months, I was in the land of "wondering if I going to get blown up" helping our soldiers get there Gatorade and beef jerky ;D
